Chakalaka Bread




Great with a braai or stew
Makes 12 small loaves
Prep: 15 min
Bake: 40 min

Ingredients:
  • 1 kg self- raising flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) garlic, chopped
  • 2 x 330 ml cans of beer
  • 2 x 410 g tin Mild & Spicy Chakalaka
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
Method:
  1. Preheat the oven to 180'C & grease the tins.
  2. Combine the flour, salt, garlic, beer & chakalaka in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Divide the dough equally into the tins & brush with the egg.  
  4. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
  5. Turn out onto a wire rack & leave to cool.
