Garlic Bread (with cream)

Quick and Easy

Ingredients:
  • 1kg Vetkoek dough, dough that you can buy at Spar/Checkers
  • 500ml Ultra Mel cream or any other full cream 
  • Cheese - You can use the amount of cheese you would like to put in
  • Fried bacon (Optional)
  • Chopped black olives (Optional)
  • Garlic - You can use as much as you want

Method:
  1. Prepare the dough in a long bread shape.
  2. Cut open the middle (lengthwise), and add the cheese, garlic, etc. and press the dough to close.
  3. Turn the dough so that the sliced section is at the bottom.
  4. Place the dough in a greased loaf pan / roasting pan (Pan must be deep).
  5. Pour 375ml cream over the dough.
  6. Sprinkle a little bit of cheese and paprika on top.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  8. Bake for 1 hour.
  9. Pour the last bit of cream over - 5 minutes before the bread needs to come out of the oven.

*Tips*
  • The warm bread can be dipped in the cream in the pan as you are eating it or it can be spread on.
  • The longer the bread simmers in the cream, the better the taste.
